In this thesis, the monitoring network system in power plant is discussed according to the requirement of Shaoguan smeltery. Advanced technologies such as computer, modern electronics, communication and signal processing are employed in the system to monitor and control as well as protect the main equipments in the factory automatically. The automatization and management of the plant are improved, and the production efficiency and economic benefit are advanced after using these technologies.The study is focused on the application realization of the monitoring network system in power plant and the key technologies are discussed deeply. Firstly, the current development of automation system in power plant is investigated and analyzed. With the requirements of the power plant in Shaoguan smeltery, layered structure monitoring network system based on Windows platform is constituted. Next, the system software, using Object Oriented Programming (OOP) and hiberarchy structure, is devised. The configuration and function of the system software are explained in details. Then, the real time database based on OOP is proposed to satisfy the real-time performance, accuracy and reliability of the monitoring system. The database of the monitoring system is designed. The core is real-time memory resident database, the background is real-time transactions mechanism and the basic technique is real-time data compression. Otherwise, human-machine interface (HMI) of the system is schemed and protraction software is developed independently. Integrating the real-time internal response mechanism and the image processing technology, the separation of its graphics, properties and data are achieved. Last, the data detecting and sampling systems in the project are depicted and the application results are given.Up to now, the system has been carried out for about two years. The system is operated well and the work intensity of the operators has been reduced efficiently. The mal-operation and mal-judgment have been cut down or avoided. The time of accident blackout has been shortened. The management and accident analysis level of the power plant have been improved efficiently.
