Research On The Application Of The Virtual Reality In Complete Decorated Residence

Virtual Reality(VR) is a simulation environment with computer technology and related devices. In the virtual environment the user will face a simulated reality world and can interact with the environment. With the development of the computer technology, Virtual Reality technology has been widely applied to many fields. In the architecture industry, by creating a series of three-dimensional architecture models of buildings, a user can walk through the virtual building so that he can have a real feeling before a real building is completed or without going to the site himself.Complete decorated residence means the residence house with all the fixed surfaces such as the wall and floor been complished or whitewashed and the general equipments in the kitchen and the toilet been installed before the house is handed over to the resident. Complete decorated residence has already been prevalent in developed countries. Providing decorate menu is now being recommend by the Chinese goverment as a favorite type of interior decoration for commercial houses in the process of real estate development,as it can meet the requirement of both large scale manufacture and variouse clients'personality.However, many problems occur when a house is decorated only with some prototypes or some plane maps of houses for decoration selection. It can not fully express the complete idea of the designer to the client. And it is difficult to inspect the composed effect and to find the defect before the decoration is completely finished. In this paper, a virtual reality system for the menu-style complete decorated residence is proposed with the function of walkthrough and intreaction.The process of complete decoration was analyzed in the paper. A framework of virtual systerm was proposed from the point of problem solving. The function of the systerm was described with UML language. The VC system was chosen as the programing envirment from comparing different techniques of developing virtual system. The systems of OpenGL and 3DS MAX were applied to realize the required functions. The programming and principle of OpenGL, the rendering process for three-dimention figures, the method of drawing, and the functions of linghting, materials and textures were all analyzed.Based on the system concept and the function analysis, the main frame of the systerm and the virtual walkthrough and other functions are studied and developed.
