At present, Fiber Bragg Grating(FBG) is one of the most potential and typical optical passive components. FBG can be immune from light source disturbance and system loss by transforming sensing information into its reflecting wavelength shift, which has the characteristic of wavelength coding. Besides, FBG is of good reliance, immune from electromagnetic signals and corruption, and can be constructed as FBGs network by being put together on a single fiber so as to realize distributed sensing, which is an unexampled merit for FBG.The purpose of the study is to design a sensor, which can measure variations of the pressure distribution of a columned pressure vessel in the process of being pressed by powdered matter. The measure point of must be as small as possible, in order to measure the pressure distribution accurately. As the matter is powdered, we require the measuring probe intrinsically safe and without fire and blast hazard. Based on the above considerations we choose optical fiber gratings to make multi-point measurement and design the system of Distributed Fiber Bragg Grating pressure sensor network.This Paper starts with theoretic model of FBG and had analyzed sensing principle of fiber Bragg grating. It creates a sensing model and focuses on the systematic analysis of the strain and temperature sensing properties of fiber gratings. Then it analyzed the distributed FBG strain-sensing network on principle, and compared several familiar multiplexing and demodulation techniques. At last, writed up the process of the FBG pressure sensor's facture, including the operation principle and structure of the sensor , the choice of the material and making technology and etc. compared experimental result and theory value, and analyzed about its performance .The results show that the design of The FBG Distributed pressure sensor system is feasible. The whole device is very suitable for application in small areas of space pressure measurement, as it has high measurement accuracy, good repeatability, and is baby-size.
