Research On Smart Client Technology And Its Application In Manage Information System

With the continuous deepening of the development of informationization construction, the requirement for management information system has been on the increase as well. The traditional fat clients architecture and thin clients architecture has already can't satisfied a demand of building some software systems. People need a kind of new architecture technique urgently to adapt the development of software. The emergence of Smart Clients for resolved this problem to provide a kind of good solution. The concept of smart clients is put forward as a characteristic of .NET platform. Microsoft's definition to it: Smart clients are easily deployed and managed client applications that provide an adaptive, responsive and rich interactive experience by leveraging local resources and intelligently connecting to distributed data sources[1].Smart clients combine the traditional benefits of a rich client application with the manageability benefits of a thin client application effectively, representing the next generation client software technique. This paper analyzed the benefits and shortcomings of traditional fat clients architecture and thin clients architecture first, thus led up to the definition of smart clients, introduced the types and characteristics of smart clients. Then studied building windows smart clients application under .net platform may involve a few key techniques , including: Handling data technique,web service technique,Occasionally connecting technique,deploying and updating smart client application and security design and so on. The last, we design and build the management information system of the fire control in a big city which based smart client technology. The system has already thrown in a usage, and obtained good result. This explained well that smart client's technique characteristic and applied advantage in practice application.
