Target discrimination is a key technique in ballistic missile defense system. In this dissertation, aim at the reentry phase, developing a series of simulation research about the ballistic coefficient estimate.Firstly, the dissertation summaries settings and meanings of the research, and analyses the features of target discrimination during reentry phase. Then, it introduces the technique development of target discrimination which bases on the ballistic coefficient. Afterwards, the main subjects and background of this dissertation are introduced.According to the requirement, in this part, sets up the reentry object's dynamics model and radar detection model and gets their curves. A set of trajectory parameters of reentry object (the warheads and baits) is provided, and also introduces the features and kinds of the warheads and baits. In order to get the ballistic coefficient and its error, the dissertation develops the expressions of ballistic coefficient and its error, and using the expressions to calculate the different object. According to the results, finds the relationship between height and ballistic coefficient, and the relationship between radar measurement precision and ballistic coefficient. The key for reentry phase discrimination is estimation of ballistic coefficient rapidly and precisely. The dissertation investigates Kalman filter and radar netting method to estimate reentry process timely and more precisely. The results prove that using these methods can make the estimation precision of ballistic coefficient better.Introduce another discrimination method which also has relationship with the ballistic coefficient. It is about the slowdown character of the objects. At the end of the dissertation, gives the conclusion, and some thoughts about the target discrimination problems.
