The Design And Implementation Of TPC-W Benchmark On Kylin

With the forthcoming of Internet age, Ecommerce comes into being and is developed rapidly. So far, high performance operating system for Ecommerce applications has become an advanced research topic in operating system area. And operating system test technology oriented for Ecommerce applications is one of the most important parts of this research focus.Kylin is a homegrown server operating system. In this paper, we comprehensively discuss performance test on Kylin and other operating systems with TPC Benchmark? W (TPC-W), which is a network transaction performance test benchmark for Ecommerce applications. We research on correlative test theories, methods and implementations. Moreover, we compare and analyze the test results of Kylin2.0 with those of Fedora4. The comparison is helpful for performance enhancement of Kylin operating system.Firstly, we study TPC-W specification and design a TPCWBench test system compliant to this specification. Then we analyze the performance index, the performance parameter, the performance display of Ecommerce load model. Whereafter, we design and implement RBE, and SUT in the TPCWBench test system. According to TPC-W specification, we improve the load model based on the SURGE model in RBE. The user group selector is also added in the design. Furthermore, in order to simplify test for different database size, we design and implement DB-Populator, a data loader. Moreover, we also implement DatabasePro, a database operating module in order to simulate page operations on databases. In this paper, we also introduce ACID requirements. We design and implement a test module for ACID characteristics.In order to compare the performance between Kylin and other operating systems, we make tests for Kylin2.0 and Fedora4 in same test environment based on TPCWBench test system. We compare the test results and point out the directions for performance improvement of Kylin system.
