A new fractal subject set up by Mandelbrot in 1975 with his book -fractalgeometry. It raised the enthusiasm of the study Fractal and their charactersfor especial purpose. At the same time, many leaders of the other subjectsto do their scientific research, such as physics, chemist, biology. The basicknowledge of Fractal is related to the popular subject-Chaos. In mathematicsterm, Fractal and Chaos are the impartibility. Cellular Automata was usedto simulate the growth of the plant and the molecule's motion. Considerableinterest has been shown in the past decade in the use of the CA for informationprocessing. The main challenge is to associate a given phenomenon with theevolving automata field. It also can be used in the image processing field.After dealing with the CA basic analysis, some special evolvement patternsof 1-dimensional CA, 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional CA covered with beau-tiful color are constructed. Investigate the CA computation ability relatively totheir neighborhoods. The choice of the neighborhood influence the evolvementpatterns, we presents the Sierpinski triangle and other famous tiling patternsby using the 2-dimensional CA. In chapter 3, we study the dynamical systemwhich related to the CA, and discuss the self-similar character in the patternsby using a transform from digital image to numerical value.This thesis presents a brief overview of CA and the application in digital im-age encryption and watermark technology. By using of the character of Chaos,we choose the specify rules of the 2-dimensional CA in the image encryption,such as rule 816, rule 224, rule 35852. And then we use the rule 816 to applythe watermark technology, hiding and bring forward the watermark. A lot ofexaminations were made to check the stability. The arithmetic seems to beexcellent, and make the perfect defenses.In all, sum up the especial character of the cellular automata machine, itcan be widely used in varies fields.
