Virtual reality (VR) is a new technology that integrates technologies such as computer science, communication, multimedia and so on. Virtual environment generated with VR is not only verisimilar, but also can interact with people, and can even make the inter-actor have a feeling of the real environment. Based on this feature, virtual experiment system built with VR can resolve problems of current laboratory, for example, aging of experiment equipments, lack of experiment curricula, and so forth, and is a good auxiliary and substitution to real experiment. When integrated with the Internet, it can also let students of remote education do experiments even in their home.X3D is a solution of desktop VR. Virtual experiment system based on X3D is agile and efficient. In this paper, we give a quick look on X3D syntax, and then propose and implement the simulation of Object Oriented Programming (OOP) characteristics, such as data encapsulation and inheritance, using X3D model language. Introducing OOP method into X3D programming will make it easy to design and analysis. Moreover, We give some tips on X3D complex object modeling, dynamic model generation, database connection etc. Finally, this paper tells the process of system analysis and modeling of virtual hydrodynamic experiment system based on X3D, and takes the Bernoulli experiment unit as an example to show solutions of some related problems in virtual experiment develop. According to our practice, the virtual hydrodynamic experiment system is robust and useful.
