Based on studying a lot of literature of time delay estimation, we illustrates thealgorithms of time delay estimation at home and abroad, analyzes their operationalprinciples and explains the relationship of these algorithms and demonstrates theprocess of one to anotherThe algorithm called the second-correlation time delay estimation was presentedin this paper based on the classical correlation time delay estimation. In passive timedelay estimation, both the auto-correlation function of the reference signal and theinter-correlation function of the reference signal and the time delay signal are thetime functions have full information. Then, the correlation function of theauto-correlation function and the inter-correlation function is calculated by FFTbased on Wiener-khintchine theorem. The time delay is estimated through the peak ofthe two-correlation function. The stabilized signal under the Gaussian white noiseand the color noise is estimated by the time delay estimation algorithm of thetwo-correlation, it is proved that the second correlation can obtain higher precisionthan the generalized correlation in lower SNR by simulation.Also, the algorithm of adaptive time-delay based on wavelet analysis ispresented by combining the multiresolution analysis of discrete wavelet transformand LMS algorithm based on the character of wavelet transform in this paper. Thetime delay of coefficients of the receiving signal after the multiresolution analysis ofwavelet transform were estimated and compared to the true value of the time delay.The validity of the algorithm has been proved by computer simulate. First, designinga wideband chirp signal under difference noisy environment. The time delay betweenthe receiving signal and the accepting signal was estimated when the signal under theGaussian white noise and the color noise. On future proving the validity of thealgorithm when the signal under the complex background, the time delay of thereceiving signals from two apart receivers under the chaotic background is estimatedby the algorithm.
