Recent years, motion capture system has been a hot research topic noticed by numerous areas and has been applied extensively in areas such as three-dimensional animation, biomedicine, virtual reality, robot technique, safety inspection and so on. Video based motion capture system is a new direction with lower cost and easier operation. The technologies related to video based motion capture system with markers are studied, including computer visual technique, video analytic technique and computer graphic technique. Furthermore, these are applied in three-dimensional animation. It is meaningful to improve the reality and the developing efficiency.The technology and principle of video based motion capture with marker is discussed. Also the process of design and realization is presented.Firstly, some improvements are proposed based on studying the track arithmetic with marker and analyzing the shortage. Through analyzing color characteristic of marker, HLS color model is adopted for recognition of marker and it can improve the probability of recognizing. Through analyzing shape characteristic of marker, an extension method for searching marker is designed. This method can search the whole of marker accurately and fix the center of marker precisely. Using the body rigidity's theory to verify track validity solves the fault problem produced during searching process. Furthermore, data smoothness method is designed to overcome motion shaking.Secondly, upon analyzing the relationship of joint and skeleton movement and based on studying file pattern of three-dimensional motion, the means for creating 3D Stdio MAX script and BVH file is given.Finally, using improved technology builds prototype system of video motion capture. Besides, ideas of designing frame and every function layer and using guide of the system are presented in detail.Experiment with above improved arithmetic shows that it improves the veracity of tracking markers and the accuracy of creating three-dimensional motion. The video based motion capture prototype system gives the guidance to develop business system.
