For most companies which manufacture mobile terminal products, it is essential to form a transplantable and configurable application platform. In doing so, the company can acquire the core technology and develop its own solutions, and its productive sectors can be supported powerfully by newly products. The unified solution for various terminal applications will not only reduce the development cycle and development costs greatly but also meet the diversified needs of the market conveniently. The market competitiveness of products will be enhanced. Email component in this thesis is based on the realization of this consideration. Email component is a module of the phone application software, and it is one of the core components of the smart phone. In this thesis, related technologies of the subject are introduced in detail, including platform of wireless Internet, principle of email system, Simple Mail Transfer Protocol, Post Office Protocol, Internet Message Access Protocol and so on. On this basis, the overall designing scheme of email component is presented, the functions of several modules are analyzed in detail, some of the key processes and data structures are presented, including sending mails, receiving mails, deleting mails, moving mails and so on. Finally, the methods of some programs and the testing results are given out.The thesis adopts the BREW platform which is designed specially for wireless equipment by QUALCOMM, and carries on the development with the language of C in the VC++6.0 environment. The simulation shows the stability while the mail client connects with many mail servers common use of internet, the mail client can be used as a module of the intelligence phone to apply in the 3G network.
