In modern society, people live in a world surrounded by the media, andthe media has become our way of lives; there is a close relationship between public health crisis and human health and life, and mass media present us with a series of vivid and specific pictures of the public health risk. In recent years, the reports of mass media on public health emergencies have widespread and profound social impacts. The interrelationship between mass media and public health crisis gains more and more attentions; researchers begin to research the mutual relations between these two studies from different theoretical perspectives. In today' s risk social environment, as an integral part of information industry, mass media often embarrassed to face the paradox: to play the "risk communication" and cognitive function, or be a"risk" promoting engine. It is also to say that the media information for the public health risk not only eliminates the original"uncertainty" , but also produces new uncertainties in faster ways; News media have positive functions in the coverage of the public health, but some public health risks is based on the reported ambiguous reality, have negative effects, such as causing public panics, making profit organizations and vulnerable groups hurt; lastly, media lose their credibility. In this thesis, it will discuss how journalists pay attention to the long-term viability and competence of the media, rather than cyclical traumatizing on citizens; why there is such a predicament; and what is the solution to such problems? Then it has my conclusions: in the public health Incident, media reports play an important and unique role, but some public health risk is created by the media, then the media has become the new public health risk sources; and the dissemination of this paradox is the tough economic environment and the survival of competitive pressure to mass media. Finally, it thinks that in order to solute the communication plight of public health risk, the mass media should integrate the characteristics of public health risk management, work hard to practice journalism and promote positive health communication activities.
