The wavelet technology, which developed on the base of Fourier analysis, offers a self-adaptive localization analysis method for a given signal in both time domain and frequency domain. Through extension and translation options and multi-scale analysis, it can extract helpful signal information effectively from signal, special no steady signal. During these years, the lifting scheme, made the theoretics'development and application in reality more great-hearted. Lifting scheme is a new technique to construct wavelet, which has characteristics that is all the computation is in its place and get rid of relying on frequency domain, and is easy to realize. Furthermore, integer-to-integer wavelet transform which is suitable for image lossless coding can be gained easily by improving on wavelet lifting scheme a little. So the technology of lifting wavelet is a powerful tool for digital image processing and coding, and a hotspot for research.Fractal coding is a new coding technology based on the theory of iterative function system in fractal geometry. It is novelty and rapid when encoding, it has high compression ratio and strong adaptability. With the advancement of automatic fractal coding in 90s by Jacquin, fractal coding has been a new developing hotspot in image coding as same as the wavelet.This paper analyzes the necessity and feasibility for images compression at first, and then makes a comparison and summarization for the traditional compression methods. This paper expatiates detailedly wavelet transform and integer-to-integer wavelet transform based on lifting scheme and realization of integer-to-integer lifting wavelet transform is also given, after basic theory of wavelet. Then the embedded zerotree wavelet coding is studied in-depth, which contains the characteristic of wavelet transformed image and the arithmetic principle of embedded zerotree. Based on the research of fractal codingmathematics and theory, this paper combines fractal coding and embedded coding with integer-to-integer wavelet furthest, advances a mixed coding arithmetic. Experiments are also given, The results show that it is a feasible and efficient method.
