Study On Radio Resource Management Strategies For Voice Group Call Service In GSM-R

Voice group call service (VGCS) is one of the characteristic services in GSM-R network. It is VGCS that makes the GSM-R network possess unsurpassable advantages in the field of train dispatching. The advantage of GSM-R depends on whether VGCS can work well, so the study of VGCS is important currently when the railway in China is developing fast.In this paper, the problems in current radio resource management for VGCS is analyzed by investigating its signaling procedures, and then a new method for radio resource management based on a "Dynamic list for subscribers in the VGCS" is proposed. This new method improves both security and radio resource efficiency. The two methods are compared further in the ratio of radio channel occupation. The proposed one occupied fewer channels when the subscriber density per cell is smaller. By analyzing the network configurations for VGCS application in GSM-R, we finally conclude that the new method is more suitable for GSM-R network.
