Machine vision is a quick-developing domain. The research focus was changing from test in laboratory to application in practice in 1980's.The Machine vision is applied widely, such as video monitoring, vision inspection, robot navigation and vision servo system. The compuer is the center of a machine vision system, which is made mainly by vision senser, high-speed capturing system and special image processing system.This paper designs a wireless video monitoring system which combined the embedded system and human-face inspection technology.The system captures the real-time image based on the ARM9 microprocessor and many periphery device, then transfers the video stream with wireless network card.we complete the motion inspection and human-face inspecition functions in this embedded system. This paper discusses the concept of the embedded system, and its classification, characteristics, then makes a analyzation of the whole video capturing and communicating system, including the arm microprocessor, periphery device and electrical circuit.Lately,the paper introduces the software system and explains detailedly the process of image capturing and wireless communication.We proposed a face detection method, it combined the motion detection , human skin color model,and a multi-stage classfier.Firstly,if there is some motion, the face inspection module will work automatically;Secondly,we used a skin color module to locate the region of face preliminarily and selected the potential region.Finally,we used AdaBoost algorithm to extract human-face regions and verify the result;The method of this paper is suitable to the real-time video system,and the experimential results show that this method can make the face detection more accurate .
