The aim of this paper is to realize CDMA2000 base band signal generator with FPGA and DSP. Some basic concepts and principles on CDMA2000 are simply introduced in the first part. The function, characteristic and structure of every forward link channel in CDMA2000 communication system is studied in detail.The whole theory chart of the base band signal generator is confirmed. The detail arithmetic and implementation programs in VHDL or assemble language are given for every function module. Under ISE or CCS, programs are compiled and simulated, all the modules for different channels are linked together.FPGAs are chosen from the Spartan-II family manufactured by the Xilinx Company, XC2S200-5PQ208C and XC2S50-6PQ208C. TMS320VC5416 is chosen as DSP (digital signal processor). The programs to implement the communication among FPGA, DSP and RAM are written. After the relative programs are loaded into FPGA and DSP, some kinds of tests are put up. At last the spectrum diagram, time diagram, eye diagram, vector diagram, star diagram and code flow diagram are available. The results are correct, but some performance specifications should be improved.
