Video monitoring technology is extensively applied in the fields such as industry agriculture production, communication, military and daily life. The traditional video monitoring systems are anolog video monitoring system and video monitoring system base on PC. Generally they have integrated functions, but their bulk is large and the price is high.With the development of integrated circuit technology and embedded system technology, video monitoring system becomes digital, intelligent, networked and miniature gradually, video monitoring system based on embedded structure appears. Video monitoring system based on embedded structure is a video monitoring system consisted of image sensor, image processing chip, embedded processor chip and storage chip, etc. Compared with traditional video monitor system, video monitoring system based on embedded structure has small bulk, strong functions and realtime ability etc. It has good forward of application and development.It is very sensible to study and develop a kind of video monitoring system based on embedded structure.On the base of studying present video monitoring system and image acquisition system, this thesis proposes a kind of systematic design scheme of embedded video monitoring system based on FPGA and ARM.This video monitoring system implements functions of image data acquisition, transmission and processing. It can be linked into the network conveniently, needless repeated wiring and being free from distance restrict. The system has small bulk and stable specifications. We use modularized design, so the architecture is simplified, and it is convenient for fixing and debugging. And the time of design is shortened. The system uses CMOS image sensor for implementing image acquisition module to enhance the integration degree of system. The system uses programmable logic device for image acquisition control module to increase the expansibility of the system. It uses embedded processor as control module to increase the flexibility of the system. The system can be used as an independent monitor device.
