| With the rapid advance of modern science technology, especially the quick development of computer technology, network technology, communication technology and automation technology, the application and technology of office automation(for short, OA)has developed in high level. It has become an important mark of modem society and component of information construction of enterprises. The erection of office automation system in enterprises is regarded as the important one of those information constructions. Setting up the system may result in such considerable improvements as in office conditions and settings within the enterprises community, in staffs release from burdensome of office routines and in enhancing working quality and efficiency, and what is more, the process of a standardized, networking and automation of management can be speeded up. It takes positive effects in the course of promoting the information construction of enterprises.First of all, the thesis introduced the concepts of office automation, the national and overseas development of office automation. Then the thesis analysis the workflow technology, which is the key technology of office automation system, expected to have a whole recognition of OA and workflow. Next to, on basis of comparing the most popular OAS develop platforms and analyzing the function needs of OAS, this thesis pointed out that Lotus Domino/Notes is the most suitable platform for OAS development. According to the model of WfMC(Workflow Management Coalition), this thesis analyses the characteristics and workflow mechanism of Lotus Domino/Notes, sums up the layout and application methods in this circumstance.
