With the coming of the 21st century, man is entering into an age of data, information and multimedia. Digital Video Processing, as the most important part in multimedia, has progressed quite a lot.H.264/AVC is the newest video coding standard of the ITU-T Video Coding Experts Group(VCEG) and the ISO/IEC Moving Picture Experts Group(MPEG). H.264 has lots of advantages such as high compression rate, highly adaptability, strong error resilience capacity, and it is the most efficient video coding standard at present. Comparing to prior video codec standard, H.264 seems will be used in more application areas in the future. At the other hand, in order to gain great coding result, H.264 adopts so many new algorithms that the amount of calculation increase drastically, so the high computational complexity will be a real challenge to real time application in PC environment. For realizing H.264 real time codec, many optimization works have to be done, and at the same time, these optimization gains should not at the cost of obviously coding performance drop. This dissertation tries to probe the coding principle of H.264/AVC,...
