Backgrounded with an army key engineering project, this paper is focusing on a study of some key technologies in the hardware platform design of shortwave receiver based on software radio. The main work of the paper is concentrated on two aspects, i.e. the design and implementation of analog front end of shortwave receiver based on RF direct digitization, and the design and implementation of integrative hardware platform of shortwave receiver with multichannels. This theme pertains to the category laying emphasis on the engineering implementation.First, the basic principles and relevant technologies regarding software radio and software radio based digital receiver are briefly covered and summarized up. And then a detail discussion on the design and implementation of analog front end of shortwave receiver based on RF direct digitization, a new field which till now still not well matured, is provided, based on which a practical design and implementation scheme is presented, the corresponding implementation process is described, and test results are also provided. In the last part of the paper a practical design scheme of integrative hardware platform of shortwave receiver with multichannels is presented, which represents the idea of SR well and obtained high performance to cost ratio by the use of currently ready-made achievements. A series of key technologies involved in the design and implementation of the above two schemes, such as impedance matching, automatic gain control (AGC) amplifier, electrically tuned filter and the corresponding control circuit, A/D converter and data-storage in DSP56F803, PCI interface with the core of FPGA etc are discussed in detail.Finally, simulation and test results are presented which prove the feasibility and practicability.
