Research And Application Of The Syslog Protocol In Monitoring & Annunciating System

With the development of internet technology, more and more attention had been paid to the problem related to the security and administration of networks. For the administrators of networks, they are eager to build a network monitoring system, by which flux, unlawful attacks and the utilization of internet resources, all of these can be fully monitored. In this way, the administration of networks can be realized efficiently.In this thesis, the common technologies used for network monitoring, including sniffer - the technology based on package capturing and the technology based on log analysis, are introduced. The main technology used designing the network monitoring & annunciating system– socket, multithread are introduced. Then the thesis analyses the target of capability and function of the system in designing, and then the instance of the syslog message. Basing on this, the thesis focuses on the introduction to the design and realization of annunciating system, and then introduces function, structure and characteristic of each module. At last, the annunciating system is test under the software simulating environment and the practical environment. As a result, it is of high configuration, stability, generality, and value in applying.
