Time-Domain Timing Synchronization Techniques On OFDM In WLAN Systems

Firstly, this paper introduces the development history of OFDM (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) and WLAN (Wireless Local Area Networks). Then the principle of OFDM and MIMO (Multi-Input Multi-Output) is presented with the description of MIMO-OFDM systems in the next WLAN followed. After that, an analysis of the imperfect timing synchronization's effect on OFDM systems is given. The emphasis is focused on some usual timing synchronization arithmetic and a study of OFDM arithmetic's application into MIMO-OFDM systems is executed. Finally, according to the next WLAN standard and the existing arithmetic, an improved arithmetic is given to meet the requirement, followed by the computer simulation and the performance analysis.
