Ear recognition is a relatively new characteristic biometrics, which pertains to the use of an individual's ear form to determine or validate identity. Hitherto, there are few correlative study institutions on it in china and it is primary research phase in the world also. So the ear recognition has enormous potentials and immense space of application and development.Ear recognition depends on traditional recognition technology and theory since it belongs to recognition field. However, there is a particular recognition method with it in virtue of its physical structure and position. Here the paper chiefly studies and researches the precreatment of ear recognition.At present ear recognition is not mature technology. In the research work we had chiefly used the manual picture division and the localization technology, but the accurate manual localization division method was not enough and the division localization technology also was unable to achieve the automatic ear distinguishes request. This article carries on the preliminary exploration in the aspect, the ear image was individed into binary images by proportion according to the image segmentation by thresholding of the ear image. Finally the individual ear image was segmented out associated with original image filtering. This paper introduce the ear topography of the segmented ear image taking the contour line as the main body, and make foundation for the future image analysls.The paper maily makes beneficlaly explore and research in pretreatment of the ear recognition, which will promote development of ear recognition in a certain extent.
