CERNET2 provides an on-limits experimental environment for research of development and services of Next Generation Internet (NGI), and proves to be the pivotal infrastructure of NGI research, important applications development and next generation internet industry progress With the promotion of NGI, the key technology oriented at NGI is supposed to be emphasized, especially the combination of production, learning and research. The primary target in this paper, oriented at development trend and demand of NGI, is accomplishment of various application service systems on NGI platform.On the basis of NGI status in quo domestically and internationally, the campus network with IPv6 wireless access of BJTU has been built. Taken as the research and test platform, the basic applications of IPv6, involved with WWW, FTP, DNS and so on, have been realized. Afterwards, it has in-depth research of several extended applications in IPv6 and realizes the IPv6 instant messaging system, IPv6 P2P streaming media application system and the IPv6 high performance video transportation system. In addition, considered the security of NGI, IPv6 packet-filtering firewall and network intrusion detection system have been designed and realized. Finally, a scheme of IPv6 network management system has been studied. The practical operations show that these systems above satisfy the basic needs of the campus network users with significance in scientific study and practice.
