Vision System Design For HGA Loading Machine

In order to survive the fierce competition in HDD industry, manufactures must keep improving their production process and equipments. This project comes from a application issue in SAE, which aims at promoting the yield of HGA loading.In this project, an IPS (Image Processing System) is added to the original HGA auto-loading machine, so that we can ensure a higher level positioning accuracy. Following topics are discussed in this thesis: analysis about original loading machine; layout of the added mechanical structure; construction of the IPS; data exchange with the PLC. For every topic listed, several available methods are studied; many experiments are also carried out to support our choice or to check if our idea works as expected.Topics discussed here may be helpful for other projects related with image processing or communication between higher level equipment and lower level equipment. Some ideas about image processing algorithm are also brought out for research in image processing.
