Carburization is a very important technics in heat treatment. The processing of carburization affects the quality of products in heat treatment directly. The theory of carburization and its control method in drop-feed atmosphere in well-type furnace are described briefly, as well as the interaction among parameters of carburizing process. A Carbon Potential measurer and controller with low cost and high accuracy was developed, in which a MCU was used to control the processing of carburization.The system is developed through hardware and software designing and debugging, in which an enhanced MCS-51(P89C51RD2) is the core. System uses a variety of bus interface chips(1-wire, I2C, SPI) to simplify interface circuits. Keyboard/display interface is developed on CPLD; it can complete keyboard scan and code without the participation of MCU. It provides friendly man-machine interface by a combination using of LCD and LED. It presents the method of using software to carry out calibration and compensation. It saves storage space by applying the method of piecewise linear interpolation to perform scales transformation. The system uses DS18B20 to measure the environmental temperature, and as the compensation of cool-end temperature. It also provides one RS-485 port to exchange information with IPC.
