Fiber Bragg Grating is a new kind of all-fiber passive device that results from that the refractive index of optical fiber core is periodicity micro perturbation. Because of the excellent properties such as compatible with optical fiber, easy fabrication, little insert loss, small volume and low price, fiber gratings have wide application in optical fiber communication and sensor field. Thus, since the successful fabrication of first fiber grating, the fabrication and application of fiber gratings is central issue of interest all along.FBG sensing technology is a more innovative fiber optic sensing technology which develops in the past decade。It is Widely used strain, temperature, pressure ,magnetic field and other occasions of measurements. However , due to a shorter time of development, there are many theoretical and practical problems to be resolved.FBG temperature sensitivity should be enhanced for temperature sensing. In the other hand, FBG is fragile and subject to attacks of acid and alkali. As a result, it is necessary look for efective packaging methods to protect FBG for fixing and making a stand against the rough environments. It is on the base of this background ,in the paper I have a research on the theory and application of FBG temperature sensor. Following are the main tasks completed:First systematically describes the development history and classification of sensor technology, fiber optic sensing technology and FBG, as well as demodulation technology's development and FBG's application in the field of sensor. We deduced waveguide modes of single and multimode fibers by use of Maxwell equation. We deduced briefly field distribution of fiber gratings using couple mode theory. We strictly deduced couple mode theory of FBGs...
