Much attention has been focused in recent years on the research of FBG sensor package technology and the temperature and strain separation method. These two issues are the key problems for good practical application of the FBG sensors.Chapter one introduces the recent development of optical fiber sensors around the world and also describes the invention, developing and recent research of FBG sensors.Chapter two studies the principle of FBG sensor. Analyses also have been done on the FBG sensor principle using mode coupling theory. The reflecting spectrum is calculated. The measurement principles for both the temperature and strain are deducted.Chapter three studies the current package technology of FBG and the virtue/defect, applying case of them. Two package methods are put forward and experimented, showing that not only can the both two package methods protect the bare FBG, but also could enhance the temperature sensitivity.Chapter four studies the cross sensitivity of strain and temperature effect, and introduces the current temperature and strain separation methods. Two methods are put forward and experimented, showing that both two methods could be used under engineering conditions.
