With the development of micron and nanometer technology, the demand for accurate driver and its control technology becomes higher and higher. New types of functional material and the working principle are unceasingly used to improve accurate driver and its control technology. Giant Magnetostrictive Actuator(GMA) is a kind of micro-displacement actuator whose actuation component is a novel functional material - Giant Magnetostrictive Material(GMM). With the advantages of large displacement, high force, rapid response, wide range of temperatures and low voltage operation, it is applied in lots of fields, such as precise and ultra-precise machining, liquid control mechanics, micro-adjusting and compensation mechanics,MEMS,nano-technologies,etc. It is expected that GMM has a great pertentiality in future.For the inherent hysteresis of GMM, there are a set of disadvantages including strong hysteresis, poor repeatability, and severe nonlinearity, which will affect GMA's output displacement. So it is important to improve the control technology of GMA to overcome the shortcomings caused of the material hysteresis of GMM, so that it can reach higher accuracy. So it is extremely necessary to improve the functions of the system on the base of the original one and excogitate the control model and control system, which are fitting for the actuator. Thereby the entire system from the control module to the executive module can be improved, and then it can meet the requirement of the practical production better.According to control theory and combined with the hysteresis of magnetostrictive materials, the GMA micro-displacement closed-loop control system for the actuator which based on MCU as the core was founded. Several parts of the system were founded, including the channel of misplacement detection and transducer, the channel of analog signals input, the channel of analog signals output, MCU-based digital control unit, etc. The hardware circuit of the system was designed, which mainly includes A/D converter, filter and amplifier, D/A converter, keyboard and display circuit and the power interface circuit. In addition, the printed circuit boards was fabricated and tested.The control system software is developed for the purpose of reaching every module of the system, by combining C language with assemble language.
