Research On Workflow Modeling Method Based On Petri Net

With the popularization of computer network, the originations and software companies become increasingly investing abundantly on researching and developing workflow management systems, so various workflow products have been distributed.Workflow modeling is an important part of workflow management systems, and XPDL is one of the standards of the workflow model definition language. XPDL can define a workflow easily and directly, while Petri net is based on stability theory foundations and abundant supporting tools. If XPDL and Petri Net can transform each other, the advantages of both will develop much more. Workflow models also can be validated and analyzed by Petri Net. At the same time, a stable, effective, reliable and exact workflow modeling application can ensure the BPR success.This thesis work on the discovery of how to make a workflow modeling process visible, how to express a workflow model in computer, how to define a workflow model of Petri Net form and how to use Java and XML technology to realize those requirements.Eventually, this thesis concludes the disadvantages of the research work and prompted the improvements, and gives the possible future research direction.
