Research On Study And Implementation Of Workflow Modeling Tool Based On Petri Net

With the new development of software developing method, EMA method is a new way of software developing methods.Meanwhile,the workflow modeling is one important facet of realizing EMA. Today's workflow products have no support for workflow verification.Errors made at design-time are not detected and result in very costly failures at run-time. So we use Petri-Net-based method to model workflow. This method can help people detect potential errors during modeling process using Petri-net's powerful analyzing ability. Firstly,the paper analyzes some kinds of Petri net, and puts forward a design and implementation of a Petri-net-based modeling tool using the "extensible" thinking. Meanwhile we implement a Petri-net-based graphical editor to help people model workflow. Secondly,some Petri-net-based analyzing tools are designed and implemented.These tools can analyze the workflow's rationality, simulate the workflow and analyze the workflow's performance. For our system can integrate with other workflow products,we design and implement a tool that can transform the Petri-net-based workflow to the XPDL-based workflow.Finally,we summarize the research work of the paper,poin out the disadvantages of the system and the future work,and give out some advice for further work.
