OFDM (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) is a high-speed Transaction technology which can defeat ICI (Inter-Channel Interference) and ISI (Inter-symbol Interference), so it makes OFDM more and more popular. OFDM transmits high-speed data through many sub-carriers which are parallel and have lower transmission frequency. All the sub-carriers are orthogonal, so their frequency spectrum can be lapped from each other. That can not only decreases ISI, but also increases frequency spectrum utilization. Because all of above, OFDM has been the first choice in 4G mobile communication technology. In this paper, we introduce the basic theory, fundamental operating principles and key technology. Most importantly, we discuss how to implement the OFDM low-IF transmitter and receiver Base on FPGA. Base on these theories, we get the whole structure about the OFDM low-IF transmitter and receiver, and use Cyclone? H DE2 Development & Education Board and DK-DAP-2C70N Development Board as hardware platforms. After programming the FPGA chips using the Verilog HDL language, the whole design is presented. At last, we set down detailed test plan and make the test. After the test, some useful conclusions are drawn and some guides about the continuous work are given.
