With the development of the modern science, special computer network technology, man need more advanced and more convenient methods to exchange each other. The media, for instance text, only audio, static picture and low quality video, can't be satisfied with our requirement. Internet need a more effective method to transport the high quality video and audio stream. Though a few kinds of technology have been here, they often need expensive communication cost or take more time to complete encoding, decoding and compressing algorithm. So the LRST(Large-volume Realtime Streaming Media Transport) is searched and introduced. By the technology, the far branch organizations and institutes can be connected to transport high quality video to take video conference, remote class, game replay, news report and so on via a consumer DV set, a computer with interface 1394 and a Internet port. The LRST is based on next generation Internet, so it take advantages of many merits of IPv6, such as the excellent support for stream, the security and enormous address space that can ignore the NAT. Due to the transmitted large-volume and high quality signal stream, so the LRST guarantees the signal quality and reduces delay. In LRST, the father choice strategy is minimum depth algorithm, and the multi-sender to single-receiver transport mode is introduced. The distance vector is used to divide father nodes into main-father node group and compensatory-father node group. So the novel main-compensatory communication mode is introduced to boost the stream media quality. The minimum depth algorithm improves the speed of finding father nodes and the transport mode enhances the self-administration and fault resilience capability. The multicast mechanism was used to organize the primary sender-receiver group and redirection multicast group. It builds the basic three-lay network structure and can reinforce the character of autonomy of distributed network. Finally, the LRST is evaluated and tested on Cernet II and campus network circumstance. Through analysis, the result indicates the technology is feasible, more advanced and lower communication cost than the existing ones. But it is far from the practical product and need more search and work.
