The use of radio over fiber (RoF) has quickly developed and has received considerable attention nowadays. However, components in the RoF system usually do not have ideal radio frequency (RF) response when it operates in higher RF frequency. It is important to compensate the frequency response declination in the RoF system. In this thesis, the theoretical and experimental research on RoF system is studied. The performance parameters of the RoF system, such as gain, noise figure, third-order inter-modulation distortion, spurious-free dynamic range (SFDR), have been measured. The impacts of different components on the RoF system are also discussed.Fiber Bragg Gratings (FBG) is used in the RoF system to improve the system frequency response. We calculate the optical spectrum of FBG according to the experimental results and fabricate the corresponding FBG to set up the new system. The experiment results demonstrate that this method can improve RoF system response effectively.
