Firstly, the basic theories of microwave filter and the methods of designing multiplexer are introduced in this paper. Then all types of filter, such as elliptic, stub low-pass and hairpin band-pass, and the methods of designing diplexer using singly terminated low-pass filter chebyshev prototypes and fractional doubly terminated low-pass filter chebyshev prototypes are analyzed. Some emulators, such GENESYS of Eagleware and Designer, HFSS of Ansoft, are used to calculate and simulate above-mentioned filers and diplexers. Low-pass filers of C-band, Ku-band, band-pass filers of S-band, C-band, and diplexers are designed, and satisfying results are gotten. The good performance of the diplexer can be done using fractional double terminated or singly terminated low-pass filer prototypes by the experiment. So the multiplexer can be realized by series or parallel connecting several diplexers. The design of diplexer using plane circuit, have many advantages, such as small size, compact structure, good consistency, low cost and so on, can be a batch production.
