The design of the Ku band filters and diplexers is studied in this thesis as well as the the related theories and technologies.As the fundamental of this thesis, the synthesis and design of the conventional Chebyshev filters and frequency transformation method are introduced. Then the synthesis of general Chebyshev filter with transmission zeros is presented. And a method of using the GA and Solvopt to synthesis the coupling matrix of general Chebyshev filter is proposed. The result shows it is an effective and flexible method to extract the parameters of filter prototype circuit. Finally a Ku band waveguide diplexers is designed,the design of each section is discussed carefully. A new design method with side coupling for reducing the lengthways dimensions is developed, which can overcome the difficulty of the limit of size. The results of simulation match very well with the measurements , so the validation and efficiency of the synthesis method is demonstrated.
