By means of the method of combining theory analysis with computer simulation and experiments test, the technique of plane-wave synthesis is studied and applied into the practice of near-field antenna measurements. The main research contents are as follows:Firstly, a new method of plane wave synthesis is presented with the introduction of least square method into the technique of plane-wave synthesis. The application of this method into the two and three dimensional plane-wave synthesis questions is theoretically analyzed and computer simulated. At the same time, this method is compared with physic optics method and traditional method and the results are given.Secondly, by the improvement of traditional genetic algorithm, the real coded genetic algorithm is applied to complete optimization design of plane-wave synthesis. By means of the combination of genetic algorithm with least square method based on the results of least square method applied in plane-wave synthesis, the genetic algorithm is utilized to optimize plane wave by seeking the best amplitude and phase distribution of the array elements. Good calculation results show the validity of the genetic algorithm to solve the problems of plane wave synthesis. Finally, based on the theory analysis and optimization algorithm, the research results above are applied into the practice of near-field antenna measurements. With the open-ended rectangle wave-guide as the port, the technique of plane wave synthesis is computer simulated and the experiments test is performed. The results of the computer simulation and the experiment show that under the condition that the size of the region under test remains unvaried, the method in this paper requires much smaller probe sampling points than the traditional methods and widens the sampling interval on the premise of ensuring and improving the measurement precision, thereby improves the measurement efficiency greatly.
