SAR (Synthetic Aperture Radar) has the characteristic of all-weather, day/night, long range, and high-resolution, and can enhance radar's information acquisition capability, especially information awareness. SAR could obtain high resolution imageries, so it's regarded highly in recent years with the widely applications and developments in both civilian and military fields.Since the limitation of broad side SAR mode, squint mode SAR is necessary in many instances, the squint imaging algorithm becomes focus in modern researches. After analyzing the postulate of SAR imaging and the geometry model of surveying strip scene in squint mode, combined with measured data, an improved R-D algorithm with parameter estimations and motion compensation is proposed in this paper, which is better at squint or high squint SAR imaging. Furthermore some attempts to enhance the imaging quality have been done. To meet the needs of project in practice, the improved algorithm flow is designed for real-time work. Analyzing the performance parameters of SAR, the work parameters are designed and evaluated combining with a real project.
