The techniques of MIMO, space-time coding and cooperative diversity can make full use of the space and time domains to offer larger capacity, higher coding gain and diversity gain. It is difficult to use too many antennas in a wireless system. To reduce the system complexity we adopted two antenna selection algorithms and calculated the system capacities on different channels to select the best antenna subset. Then we used water-filling theorem to allocate the transmit power to enhance the system capacity after the receiving antenna selection. We used space-time trellis code and space-time block code in the established MIMO system to enhance the system reliability. After that we used the Matlab to simulate the above algorithms. Finally we discussed the theory and technique related to setting up cooperative partners among mobile users to form a virtual multi-antenna system by using cooperative diversity technique.
