Recently the results in labs testify that spectral efficiency using MIMO technology in indoor transmission environment can reach 20-40bit/s/Hz. As an important approach of increasing date transmission rate, MIMO technology is being gotten more and more attention, and has been considered as one of candidacy technologies that can be used in the next new generation of mobile cellular communication systems.In the view of information theory, according to traditional SISO channel Shannon capacity, we derived the capacity of MISO channel and SIMO channel. Then we anlysised MIMO system model and derived the capacity of MIMO channel. The digital simulation of these channels' capacity is given out to verify the theoretic analysis of MIMO channel capacity.In wireless mobile communications, diversity techniques are widely used to reduce the effects of multipath fading and improve the reliability of transmission without increasing the transmitted power or sacrificing the bandwidth. We introduc diversity techniques and its category, emphasis on transmit diversity techniques.Space-Time code uses spatial and temporal coding technology, and combines the technology of coding, modulation and diversity to fight multi-path fade. It can improve the communication quality and increase the efficiency of the channel simultaneously. We introduce three kinds of Space-Time code and analysis their performance.MIMO technology can improve the capacity and reliability of radio communication. However, the multiple RF chains associated with multiple antennas are costly in terms of size, power and hardware.
