This project mainly does a lot of discuss and research work on the smart antenna technique, which is on of the key techniques in the third generation mobile communication system. The number of the system user increases rapidly as the mobile communication system develops. The smart antenna technique can increase the system capacity by space division multiple access, which can improve the performance of the system.The project introduces the theory, structure and the system design method of the smart antenna system, and then does much research on the two main part of the smart antenna system——RF channel circuit design and adaptive algorithm. In the design of the RF channel, according to the reference data and the design experience of the mobile communication system, the project designs receiver RF channel of the smart antenna at about 1000MHz frequency based on the introduction about structure of the RF channel. The design includes LNA, mixer, local oscillation and IF PLL. The project simulates and improves the circles by using the Matlab software and ADS software of Agilent corporation, and the result of the simulation indicates that the circles are satisfied with the performance request.In the research of the smart antenna system adaptive algorithm, according to the structure characteristic of the smart antenna system, the project combines the all phase algorithm and traditional adaptive algorithm and presents all phase adaptive filtering algorithm and all phase smart antenna algorithm. By the simulated compare of the new algorithm and traditional algorithm, the new algorithms can improve the direction selectivity and real time performance of the system.
