Jacquard CAD system plays a very active role in advancing the development of textile industry and texture synthesis technology is a very important part of jacquard CAD system. The ordinary texture image are the mainstream of current texture synthesis algorithms as the processing object, and there are not specific algorithm for the fabric texture synthesis algorithm. Therefore, it has a great significance to design a texture synthesis algorithm dedicated to the fabric texture.This article first introduces the basic concepts of texture synthesis and the model used to describe the texture, as well as several typical texture synthesis algorithms, then analyzes and compares the characteristics of each of these algorithms and the application of occasions. Then the article analyzes the basic characteristics of the fabric texture. On this basis, this paper presents a fabric texture synthesis algorithm based on Image Quilting algorithm. It has improvements on the basis of the Image Quilting Algorithm. First, by converting the color space of the fabric texture image to CIELAB, the output is more in line with human vision, second, by comparing the similarity of synthesis texture block and histogram of input texture block, get the best size of synthetic texture block. Improved algorithm has adjusted the selection strategy of texture block in original algorithm so that the output of fabric textures can better maintain the structural characteristics of original texture. Finally, implement the improved algorithm, and experimental results show that the improved algorithm can get good results in dealing with the fabric texture images.
