This paper chiefly deals with the Jamming of GSM Synchronization System. All the work concentrated on the physical layer of GSM radio subsystem. The basic principles and techniques of GSM and a common communication system are introduced in this paper. All the jamming methods involved in this paper are simulated with MATLAB language. And in the simulation process, some values of the parameters are defined by the author himself, they might be a little different from the values used by the telecom service providers and mobile station manufacturers. But the final conclusions have been approved correct by the analysis in this paper. On the whole, the achievements of research are based on the basic principles of GSM radio subsystem. According to the synchronization of GSM, some jamming methods are introduced specifically, and simulated with MATLAB language. The fourth chapter deals with the detection of GSM synchronization, which is the foundation of the jamming of GSM synchronization system. First, based on the characteristics of FCCH in GSM, analyzing the frequency spectrum and the correlation of SCH training sequence are two ways introduced to capture FCCH. Second, the training sequence of normal burst is detected by the correlation of all eight possible training sequences. Third, a statistic way is introduced to detect the frequency hopping pattern. In the fifth chapter, several jamming ways of GSM synchronization system are introduced. First, the methods to jam FCCH are single frequency jamming and dragging jamming. Second, dragging the position of the correlation peak by jamming signal is introduced to jam the code synchronization. Third, the jamming of frequency hopping is realized by changing the lasting time of each frequency. For further study, the jamming hardware will be the main subject to study.
