The main contents of this thesis include radar signal processing hardware design, VxWorks OS configuration and real time application programming. It introduces the application of VxWorks RTOS on radar signal processing. The architecture is on the base of SW and HW modularization. In the hardware design, multi-DSP parallel processing technique is used to realize high speed operation, and multi-bus architecture and multi-level interconnection is adopted to perform data transmission among the modules. With the single board computer platform based on Power PC, the whole system is controlled by VxWorks through VME bus, serial port and network. To achieve real time response, priority-based preemptive scheduling algorithm is introduced in VxWorks OS, each task has a priority and the kernel ensures that the CPU is allocated to the highest priority task that is ready to run. The design of application software is adopt to multitask, and assigns priority of tasks considering the real time system. Semaphores and message queues provide mechanisms to allow cooperating tasks to communicate with each other.The radar signal processing platform based on VxWorks OS has passed tests successfully.
