At present, the homogeneity phenomenon in journalism becomes more and more serious, which results in the much more urgent needs of scoops from the audience than ever. Meanwhile, it transforms the reporter's focus from the effectiveness and monopoly of news resources to the profundity and specificity of news contents. A wide horizon will help the reporter find out the value of news events or reveal the covered truth and connotation meanings from these news events. Upon the current situation of the homogeneity phenomenon in journalism, this paper takes outstanding scoops and the authors as research objects, employs the epistemology of dialectical materialism to analyze news practice, and hence presents that the reporter's horizon is influenced by many personal and impersonal factors, such as a reporter's knowledge, experience, ideation and the occupational role given. On the basis of this finding, this paper proposes that the reporter should set up creative mode of thinking in order to w(?)den the horizon. A reporter should not only cultivate good thinking habits, but also break through those disturbance thoughts, especially the thinking tendency, which will hamper the reporter's understanding and news practice. Only by this way can the reporter master the nature of news truth, find out the values of news and thus successfully produce specific scoops.
