Research And Implementation Of A Web-based Workflow System

Workflow technology is one of the hot research topics in computer application area. This paper first introduced the existing workflow technology and correlative web developing technology. Based on the workflow reference model publicized by workflow management coalition, a web-based workflow prototype system-IFlow was designed and implemented. The IFlow prototype system made use of J2EE as basic developing platform and MVC as architecture design pattern. Then, this paper deeply investigated the three difficult problems of the system, such as exception handling, security right controlling and heterogeneous database access. And suggest a workflow exception handling idea basing on aspect-oriented programming technology, a security right controlling strategy basing on improved role-based access control model, as well as a heterogeneous database access method basing on data access object. Besides, this paper integrated a practical OA system as an IFlow-based developing example. By testing and analyzing, it is testified that the IFlow prototype system is feasible. The end of this paper summarized the above work and proposed some expectations.
