Cellular networks and wireless local area networks are two main traditional modes that are based on fixed infrastructure. However, these are not suitable for temporary or emergency networks. The Ad Hoc networks are fit for military and urgent applications due to the rapid organizing of networks and the outstanding ability of destruction-resistance and self-recovery.The nodes of Ad Hoc network exchange data through multi-hop data transmit mechanism. Routing decisions transmit strategy. Channel changes in the irregular nature of the mobile node, adding or withdrawal from the network topology can also lead to other changes. Ad Hoc Network Routing Protocol is the role of environment in which to monitor changes in network topology, to exchange routing information, to locate destination node position, to safeguard and choose routing options, depending on the chosen route and transmitted data provide network connectivity. Routing Protocol is the basis of communication of mobile node, and the focus of Ad Hoc networks. This paper introduces the character and researchful development for wireless Ad Hoc network, next we investigate the protocol stack of Ad Hoc network, especially MAC layer and routing layer. A number of routing protocols have been described and compared, such as DSDV,TORA,DSR and AODV. We model an Ad Hoc network in detail using NS2 simulator and wireless extensibility module of CMU. The simulation shows that the performance results of AODV is better than DSR.Then expound Linux network protocol stack, discussed the AODV principle, and AODV software framework and the solutions of key technologies. AODV routing can provide routing support for wireless radio network. Finally, design experiment to verify the correctness achieve AODV.
