The requirement of the access to Internet at anytime and anywhere is increasing sharply with the development of 3G technologies and the prevalent of portable devices, such as notebook, PDA and so on. The mobile IP technology provides the roaming function which can allow the mobile nodes to travel to other subnets with a single address. The people can obtain many conveniences from this technology. And the MIP technology will drive the development of mobile networks and Internet.Comparing with fixed host, MN will suffer form attacks more frequently. It is necessary to protect the MN with proper security methods. This refers to the address privacy of MIP which is very important in mobility. Address privacy is a function which can prevent other obtaining the current / past address. To achieve this aim, the MN must hide the relationship between its location and personal information. This paper researches on the address privacy of MIPv6.The work of this paper is supported by National CNGI program and Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd Foundation project (YJCB2005054RE). The major achievements in the paper are as follows:The paper makes a detailed introduction of the principles of MIPv6, and analysis the security threatens and the corresponding security policies and mechanisms of MIPv6 at first. Then the address privacy problem of MIPv6 is reviewed. And then the paper proposes two scalable solutions of address privacy of MIP. The first solution sets a substituted home address, and protect the binding cache. This solution has applied the PRC invention patent. The second solution hides the home addresses directly by making the home address alters periodically. Additionally, the paper analyses the implementation of MIP bases on Linux platform, and proposes a design method to implement the first solution.
