Research And Realization Of SNMP In Network Performance Management

With the unceasingly expanding scale of computer networks, and also with its more and more complicated architecture and stronger function, the management of computer networks is becoming more and more important. A perfect Network Management System can ensure reliable and stable running of computer networks. Of course Network Management Protocol is the core problem. It is extremely meaningful to study it for developing a consummate Network Performance Management System.This paper expatiate the research and realization of Simple Network Management Protocol in NPMS based on Linux platform.(1) This dissertation firstly introduces the development history of NMP, emphasizing on different development stage of SNMP. Then according to the latest international tendency in research and application of NMP, this paper predicts the development of NMP in future.(2) This paper analyzes the development condition of NPMS in different history stage, illustrates the important position and concrete implementing methods of SNMP in NPMS designing. And it objectively proposes the possible problems and solving methods during the realizing time.(3) Through analyzing the actual needs of our NPMS, we decide to choose Eclipse in Linux and C programming language to develop our system. As to database, considering the storage of enormous data, we choose embedded database—Berkeley DB. Then simply introduces Extreme Programming (XP). XP is a set of values, principles and practices for rapidly developing high-quality software.(4) Using Wuhan Orizone Technology Corp. NPMS as an example. After introducing the architecture of SNMP (including Protocol Data Unit, mib and etc) and a rough frame of this system, it emphasizes illustrating SNMP information collecting module and how to collect SNMP information based on SNMP and Net-SNMP (an open-source developing package).
