As the development of the modern world, Chinese is used comprehensively in the range of the whole world and more and more Chinese learner wanted to get more information through the Chinese retrieve tools. Dictionaries providing single character and word search are familiar and easier to implement than dictionaries denoting relationship between characters and words which can give more help to the user. The author implemented the Chinese dictionary by doing some research and learning the technologies correlative to this area. This dictionary has some basic function such as Chinese characters and words'searching, adding, deleting, and modifying, characters or words'information and several normal relation indexes dynamically. This issue put a great emphasis on a Chinese dictionary structure, which can organize many relationships as follows: character and characters with different pronunciations but the same shape, characters and words it composed, words and its antonym words or analogical words. It is also an efficiency and all-purpose structure that can expend to a professional dictionary in other language or some profession areas. At the same time, the author deeply comprehends and expounds the operations when B-tree acts as an index structure and the way Berkeley DB used to be a rock-bottom database and implemented the Chinese dictionary based on B-tree index and Berkeley DB. When the dictionary developed to a B/S or C/S model, it has a possibility to sustain highly subsequence retrieve. At that level, the dictionary is in a favorable application foreground and is hoped to bring more broadly purpose into play in more area.
